Scott Owitz has worked his way up through all levels of nursing. Graduating as an LPN in 1984 (Central School of Practical Nursing), an AASN in 1988 (Dutchess Community College), a BSN in 1990 (SUNY New Paltz) and finally a Masters of Science in Nursing and Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1993 (Binghamton University). He obtained National certification in Family Care in 1994. Scott was also an EMT, and has held most levels of the American Heart Association’s “Life Support”, including Advanced Traumatic Life Support, a second year surgical residency program. His skill sets include minor surgery and suturing. He has 14 years experience in Family healthcare including geriatrics as well as pediatrics. Scott revitalized the Hudson Valley chapter of the Nurse Practitioner Association (NPA), and served as New York State Chairman. He currently continues with the NPA as secretary and chair of multiple committees. Scott joined Pine Street Pediatrics in 1995, he recently returned after a near six-year hiatus in Family Healthcare. Scott, his wife, Kathy, and their two sons are very active in their church, and spend many hours volunteering for various organization and causes. They enjoy kayak fishing, camping, and BBQ’ing. |
